Confidence is such a funny word. It encapsulates so much. It is having the ultimate trust in yourself. You act like you know exactly what you are doing. When you have true confidence, you are set for life. It is often associated with qualities such as decisiveness and intelligence. Having too much confidence in the eyes of many is seen as cockiness, and having too little confidence is seen as being indecisive. Many people mistake confidence for being a mindset that you can just put yourself in. You can’t just fake confidence because confidence affects the user more than it affects others around the person. You gain confidence as you put in work towards something. If you put in work for many years to be a great sports player, confidence will just come to you. You don’t have to work towards it. That’s why many players are seen to have an attitude, but to them, they deserve it. So many people who haven’t put in the hours or haven’t put in the work just have problems with indecisiveness because, in their heads, they don’t know if what they are doing is correct or not, and when it really matters, that mask of confidence will fall and it will become apparent that they really don’t know what they are doing.
Many people see and wonder how people in the World Cup, basketball finals, tennis championships, and more do not crack under pressure because they know that they’ve earned their position. The buzzer beaters the last-minute goals are what they have lived for, for their whole life and when you have put in so much effort to not miss, you know that you have got it. That is a version of confidence.
There are many more examples of this, but in many cases, the people who are allowed to be cocky are the ones who earn it. This is the same throughout life. People with money are the ones who can flaunt it effortlessly. They are seen as jerks by many people but to them, they earned it. So to gain confidence in anything that you do in life, you have to put in the work. You can’t just one day say that you will be confident because it isn’t a mindset; it is a conclusion of hard work and knowing that you really can do what you need to do.
Indecisiveness is a problem that stems from a lack of confidence, and solving this problem is just hard work in what you are doing. There is a reason that if you believe you will do something, you actually will because you know deep in your head that you can do it. The only person that you can’t trick is yourself because you can’t unlearn an answer simply because you want to. The problem of indecisiveness also stems from knowing what you could possibly do wrong, and if you minimize what you can do wrong, then you won’t be indecisive because you know what you can do.
